Benidorm Costa Blanca

Benidorm - Costa Blanca - Spain

Benidorm - Sun, sea, sand, sangria and shows, Benidorm has them all and plenty more besides. Now, undoubtably, the most popular tourist destination on the Costa Blanca, Benidorm is a slick and glitzy resort. Attracting over 4 million visitors each year from all over the world, Benidorm has something to offer everyone - all ages, nationalities and tastes are catered for and there is so much to see and do you will no doubt want to return again and again.

Although the history of Benidorm stretches back to the Arab Conquest (8th - 13th Centuries) and beyond, the town was just a small fishing village right up until the 1950's when the tourism industry exploded and Benidorm grew in a spectacular fashion. Cheaper flights and the opening of a new airport at El Altet (Alicante) resulted in even greater expansion and development.

Modern day Benidorm is an amazing resort where you can enjoy sun and fun during the daytime and be entertained, fed and "watered" throughout the night. For kids and adults alike there are some great places to visit - a good place to start is the spectacular Terra Mitica theme park, opened in 2000 it is based on the ancient Mediterranean civilizations of Rome, Greece and Egypt it has some of the best fairground rides in Europe, along the way you will meet up with creatures and characters from myth and legend.

Another great place to visit is the Mundomar Marine Animal Park where you can see dolphins, sea lions, turtles, flamingoes and even visit a bat cave.

Not to be missed is the Aqualandia Water Park with its fantastic slides, waterfalls and pools. Thought to be the largest water park in Europe it boasts rides with names like The Black Hole, Kamikaze and Big Bang, it also features a huge Atlantic wave pool, those with young children need not worry, there are plenty of gentle rides to please the younger ones.

In the evenings there are hundreds of bars, restaurants and discos to enjoy along with some superb cabaret shows - be sure to visit The Benidorm Palace, a fabulous place to be wined, dined and entertained.

Other things to do and enjoy in Benidorm include a boat trip to Benidorm Island, or maybe to the nearby town of Calpe with its amazing rock formation Penon de Ifach, a visit to the old town with its narrow streets and alleyways, a trip to the Casino for a little flutter, some swimming, jet-skiing or scuba diving. Or perhaps you just want to spend some lazy days on the beach, simply soaking up the sun. Whatever you desire, Benidorm does its best to provide.......ENJOY.
